For decades Miami Beach has had a long standing love affair with the Art Deco tradition.
You can?t walk far in Miami without this genre of style leaping out at you. The Albion
hotel is an excellent testament to this fact. The building, which resembles a magnificent
ocean liner, was originally designed in 1939 by Igor Polivirsky, the famed architect who
has been credited with the invention of Nautical Art Deco. In 1996, Rubbel Hotels bought
the property and added Carlos Zapata, the celebrated Avant Garde architect, to the mix and
reopened to rave reviews. Guests will discover a certain laid backness
that is not usually found at other area high-end hotels. Although the hotel is only two
blocks away from the Atlantic Ocean, guests need not even go that far to enjoy a
beach-like experience. The Albion?s 60-foot mezzanine-level port holed swimming pool and
artificial beach is a popular gathering spot for the hotel?s ultra-hip clientele. The
Albion is everything that makes Miami one of the most exciting cities in the worlds:
smart, trendy and chic. The hotel is conveniently located near many of the Miami Beach?s
most popular attractions including the Art Deco Museum, Lincoln Road shopping mall and the
Miami Beach Convention Center.
Chic Accommodations
Each of the Albion?s 100 guest rooms has a certain minimalist feel. The blond maple wood
and stainless steel furniture was custom designed by Zapata. The ornate bathrooms feature
stainless steel vanities and slate floors. The hotel?s seven Penthouse Suites provide
guests with a breathtaking view of Miami Beach in addition to a solarium that is ideal for
private sunbathing or intimate dinner parties. The amenities offered at the Albion are
hard to come by, even in Miami. The guest room?s entertainment center consists of a remote
controlled color cable television with in-room movies as well as a remote controlled
state-of-the-art stereo system with tape deck, radio and CD player. VCR?s and a video
library are available upon request. Bath time is a luxurious experience
with plush spa bathrobes and organic cucumber essence bathroom essentials awaiting each
and every guest. Looking for something other than a standard mint on your pillow? At the
Albion, nightly turndown comes with Chupa Chups lollipops and a good-night note. Other
in-room amenities include iron, ironing board, full-length mirror, dual-line direct dial
telephone with voice mail and data port, mini-bar, alarm clock and in-room safe. Handicap
accessible rooms are available upon request. When accompanied by an adult, children ages
12 and under stay at the Albion free of charge. Pets are welcome at the hotel. The hotel
also has four rooms that can easily be used as production or wardrobe rooms.
Wallowing in the Lap of Luxury
The guest services offered at the Albion will leave guests with the distinct feeling that
they are wallowing in the lap of luxury. Fresh baked cookies await guests at the reception
desk and the hotel?s manager hosts a daily cocktail party. The Albion has
a small exercise room for those travelers who simply can?t live without their daily
workout. The hotel?s concierge can point guests in the direction of all of Miami?s various
hotspots and hidden gems. Mom and dad can enjoy a romantic evening out on the town as the
hotel offers baby-sitting services. The highly professional, multi-lingual staff is on
hand to cater to each and every need. Other guest services include laundry, dry cleaning,
housekeeping, valet parking, airport limo service, body melting in-room massages, hotel
parking, business and secretarial services such as faxing, copying and courier, 24 hour
front desk, around the clock in-room dining, porter, currency exchange, doctor on call,
car rental desk, conference facilities and wake-up calls. The hotel?s celebrated
restaurant, Mayya which focuses on savory New World cuisine, is popular with both locals
and tourists.
