For decades Miami Beach has had a long standing love affair with the Art Deco tradition. You can?t walk far in Miami without this genre of style leaping out at you. The building, which resembles a magnificent ocean liner, was originally designed in 1939 by Igor Polivirsky, the famed architect who has been credited with the invention of Nautical Art Deco. In 1996, Rubbel Hotels bought the property and added Carlos Zapata, the celebrated Avant Garde architect, to the mix and reopened to rave reviews.
